Updates from our PCN
News, announcements and the latest information about our staff, technological developments and patient care and support within Enfield Care Network and the wider Enfield Healthcare community.
Innovative Neighbourhood-Based Heart Clinic
A number of our PCN practices ran a very successful pilot project alongside the local hospital and their heart failure team, to optimise the treatment and care of patients who were under their service. Our specially trained independent prescribing pharmacists, working with specialist heart failure nurses, worked collaboratively leading to better treatment regimes for those with heart failure. This important piece of work ensured that patients had better outcomes as well as a better quality of life.
At the surgery, we employ a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, not just doctors, and their mixed skillsets allow for us to deliver these important services at neighbourhood level, without referring patients into the hospital setting and adding to outpatient waiting lists.
pharmaSuisse visit to ECN Pharmacists at Evergreen Surgery
Enfield Care Network PCN are proud to have welcomed Martine Ruggli (President) and Sébastien Marti (Vice-President) of the Swiss Pharmacy Association (pharmaSuisse – Schweizerischer Apothekerverband) to our PCN lead site at Evergreen Surgery on 17 June. Alongside colleagues from pharmaSuisse, it was a pleasure to also welcome Asra Ahmed (Royal Pharmaceutical Society – Pharmacy Professional Engagement Lead – England), Claire Anderson (President of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society) as well as Dr Jan Von Overbeck who is a medical doctor as well as a municipal councillor for Saint-Prex.
These colleagues came to Evergreen Surgery to learn how our PCN clinical pharmacists have been integrated into General Practice and how that has delivered improved access and patient care whilst also upskilling our pharmacy team. We also discussed how we have innovated to make our internal processes much more efficient to ensure better allocation of resources within our member practices.
A big thank you to our whole pharmacy team, lead by Yasin Hawa, for their continued hard work.
PCN News
Pop-Up Clinic
Enfield Care Network practice recently took part in the Enfield Health and Wellbeing Pop-Up Clinic, held on 17 June at the Enfield Town Library. The focus of this Pop-Up Clinic was reducing barriers to accessing healthcare services, with a particular emphasis on frailty and digital inclusion. All attendees were able to receive advice and basic health checks, such as blood pressure and BMI checks. Plus free toiletries, food, and clothes goodie bags.
Our practices took part in the previous event at Edmonton Green Library in March 2025. Both events were a huge success, and we hope to participate in more of these in the future.
Respiratory Diagnostics
Enfield Care Network is pleased to announce that we have delivered a hugely successful respiratory diagnostics hublet based at Evergreen Surgery. The hublet, operated by our trained clinical pharmacists, uses specialist equipment to help diagnose respiratory conditions such as asthma or COPD. This helps to support GPs and their patients with the management of their respiratory symptoms.
In 2024-25, we have completed several hundred of these tests and the feedback from GPs has been very positive. The service is continuing into 2025-26.
Ear Microsuction
Enfield Care Network is delivering ear microsuction for patients registered with our member practices. Microsuction requires specially trained staff to carry out this delicate procedure. For those struggling with impacted wax that affects their hearing, the outcome of the microsuction procedure can be life-changing.
These clinics are held at Evergreen Surgery in Edmonton Green and your practice will refer you should you require this service. If you are having trouble with your hearing, please request a GP appointment at your registered practice.
Covid Vaccinations
Enfield Care Network had a hugely successful COVID-19 vaccination programme for Autumn/Winter 2024, which continued for Spring/Summer 2025 at Evergreen Surgery. The vaccination programme will end on 17th June 2025 and will resume in the Autumn.
Our PCN is currently supporting the North Middlesex in the Community District Nursing team to deliver booster vaccinations for housebound patients to ensure they remain protected.

Choose The Right NHS Service
The NHS is facing unprecedented pressures. Ambulance services as well as Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments are facing very long wait times for patients to be seen. To ensure we all do our part to support the local NHS services, we are asking our patients to think more carefully about using the appropriate service for their symptoms. Enfield patients can access GP services in one of our local hubs giving access to appointments until 8pm on weekdays and 8am-8pm on weekends and bank holidays.
A&E and 999 should be used for life-threatening emergencies only. Examples of medical emergencies include (but are not limited to): chest pain, difficulty in breathing, unconsciousness, severe loss of blood, severe burns or scalds, choking, fitting or concussion, drowning and severe allergic reactions.
